The international hit musical JERSEY BOYS transfered from the Prince Edward Theatre to London’s Piccadilly Theatre, with opening night on the 14th March 2014.

Jersey Boys has won over 55 major awards worldwide, including the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The original London production opened in February 2008, following the Tony Award Winning 2005 Broadway premiere. The full New York creative team reimagined the show at Cameron Mackintosh’s Prince Edward Theatre, where it will have enjoyed 6 successful years once it transfers. The original London cast included Ryan Molloy as Frankie Valli, Stephen Ashfield as Bob Gaudio, Glenn Carter as Tommy DeVito and Stuart Milligan as DeCarlo

Jersey Boys has now been seen by over 4 million people worldwide, in productions in cities as far reaching as Las Vegas, Sydney, Chicago and Toronto. The Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End will be a perfect venue for the lively show, following on from such successful jukebox musicals such as ‘Jailhouse Rock’ and ‘Viva forever’.

The hit musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and their remarkable rise to stardom as they became one of the most successful bands in history. Told in four segments, the show charts the humble beginnings, rise and inevitable fall of the band, who went on to sell over 100 million records around the world and were eventually inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Jersey Boys is an honest portrayal of how four men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey managed to find a unique sound. The musical follows their triumphs, heartaches, headaches and relationships and is one of the most inspirational stories of any pop group.

This production showcases a string of incredible hit songs, including instantly recognisable tunes and some you had forgotten you knew.  BEGGIN’, CAN’T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU, OH WHAT A NIGHT, WALK LIKE A MAN, BYE BYE BABY (BABY GOODBYE), SHERRY, BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY and countless others await you at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Flying monkeys, ruby red slippers and a tornado-topping house all make appearances in the spellbinding musical Wicked, but the show does far more than recycle the clichés that we are familiar with from the original book and Technicolor film. Adapted from Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked is a dizzying theatrical spectacle that subverts the well-worn story of Oz and provides a shocking backstory to explain how the Witches of Oz earned their reputations as Glinda the Good and The Wicked Witch of the West long before Dorothy arrived on the scene.

Creative Team

The music and lyrics in Wicked are by Stephen Schwartz, the musical theatre legend behind Godspell, Pippin, and The Baker’s Wife. He is also known for his long career writing music for films, including the Academy Award-winning song “When You Believe” from The Prince of Egypt. The book is written by Winnie Holzman, and the production is directed by Joe Mantello, who also helmed Broadway productions of Take Me Out and Assassins.

Show Lengths and Times

Performances of Wicked take place at the Apollo Victoria Theatre every evening from Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm. There is an additional matinee performance on both Wednesday and Saturday at 2.30pm. There are no performances on Sundays. The musical lasts for approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. Evening performances end at approximately 10:15pm, and you can expect to leave the theatre by around 10:30pm, while matinees finish at approximately 5:15pm, and you can expect to leave the venue by 5:30pm.
