A jazzy night in with Marina Rinaldi
Marina Rinaldi’s launch party was just as smooth and sleek as the silhouettes of the clothes at their new townhouse store on Albermale Street in Mayfair. It’s a gorgeous two- story building with a light open reception and an upper floor where champagne and delicious canapés were served as the guests surveyed the collection. The launch was also graced by a few big names, with Kelis turning up and Neneh Cherry behind the DJ booth. Ellie Ingram, who briefly diverted our attention from the clothing racks, also treated us to a sexy, husky, jazzy performance.
Haute couture for plus sizes is hard to come by, but Marina Rinaldi offers beautiful, top-quality clothes with flattering shapes. Instead of just the usual black for their ‘women about town’ wear, pop out colors such as orange, pinks, daring reds, mustard yellows and bold animal print jackets grace the racks. Elegant checks and strips also added shape and excitement to every day office wear. But the gowns-oh the gowns, were really the pièces de résistance of the collection. The ghostly shapes of the weightless chiffons varied from romantic ruffles and feathered hems to striking bejeweled collars. Perfect for an evening of glamour.
