One of the two wealthiest men in France has spent £20 Million on an 18th Century property in the heart of Chelsea. Franҫios Pinault who made his fortune through running luxury goods company PPR, bought the two bedroom property earlier this month. Pinault’s luxury empire, includes many well known brands such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and sports giant Puma.

Franҫios Pinault’s new property, The West House on Glebe Place in SW3 was designed by Philip Web for the Victorian watercolour painter George Price and is one of the earliest examples of Queen Anne revival architecture. The house featured in the 1987 cult film Withnail and I, staring Richard E. Grant.

Not content with acquiring the luxury property, Penult is likely to spend a fortune decorating it. The French businessman is one of the world’s leading art collectors owning a collection of approximately two thousand pieces, including work by Damien Hurst and Jeff Koons.
