A few weeks ago, I hopped on a plane to Alicante in Spain to try out a  new fitness craze called PRAMA. Now, if the thought of going to the gym and running on a treadmill makes you want to curl up in your bed for 5 weeks, don’t worry. You’re not about to be converted to a gym addict, since PRAMA is more about using interactive, pressure-sensitive floors and walls to deliver a wide range of options for performance and functional training. With different lighting options, the system creates a unique atmosphere at the facility for different types of workouts. All the features are controlled at the touch of a button. Even the kids who joined the session with their parents later, seemed to be in agreement that it was great fun,  high-intensity and overall high energy class. The interactive studio can be programmed to lower intensity exercises so that the whole family can enjoy a class, working in teams to compete against each other. PRAMA has curated workouts designed to meet members where they’re at, with  targets based on participants’ age, weight, and sex. Two people can be running at different speeds and still meet their respective goals, making the workout challenging regardless of fitness level. This way, all who take part can be challenged rather than being overwhelmed or bored.

PRAMA addresses the questions most club operators tend to ask before deciding on making a new investment, including how the concept can fit into an existing club and how to market the PRAMA experience to existing club members. The concept is easy to use, very effective, and integrates three key elements – Pavigym Energy+, Pavigym Mood, and Pavigym Synapse – to offer a solution that both makes training more entertaining. Energy+ is a group training solution that uses high intensity interval training to ensure gym goers get the most of their workout. The concept combines interactive flooring with a regularly updated online support package to deliver a variety of classes throughout the year.  The workout programs are designed to train movements and the body-mind connection and can be used for both functional training and conditioning. They are suitable for members of all fitness levels and our lucky Chelsea Monthly readers can soon try out PRAMA for themselves.

PRAMA is coming to Kensington Harbour Club in June 2017 and will also be available in selected David Lloyd Clubs from the autumn.

Models, actors, comedians and rock-stars graced the pitches of the Hurtwood Polo Club on Saturday,  June the 14th as they rallied together at the Rock ‘N’ Horsepower event in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Sponsored by Opera Jet, Kenney Jones hosted the event to raise awareness for prostate cancer after being diagnosed in Summer 2013. Celebrities such as Jane Seymour, Paul Young, Penny Smith and Ruby Wax all added to the dazzling display of the day. It was a glamorous affair entailing a champagne reception, lunch and a riveting polo match. But horsepower was revved up here in more ways than one. As well as some word-class polo there was also a chocolate box of super cars on display, ranging from a 275 GTB Spider to a 360 Modena.

After a day of sport and sports cars, the guests were treated to an amazing live concert with Kenney Jones’ rock-star friends rallying to the cause. Huge acts such as The Who, Mick Hucknal (Simply Red), Procul Harum and of course Kenney Jones himself finished the energy-filled day with a bang. ‘Shooting Stars’ Vic Reeves and Angelous Epithemou hosted the show and kept a steady pulse of comedy going through out the evening whilst also underlining the more serious message of cancer awareness.

Overall, the day was an exhilarating celebration of sport, music and fast cars, all great components to attract a lively and A-list crowd. Added to that, a charity auction took place and raised an astounding 10,000 pounds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Chelsea Football Club has launched its new steakhouse, Marco Grill, located onsite at its Stamford Bridge venue on the popular Fulham Road.

Previously a fine dining restaurant, Marco Grill now boasts a more affordable and uncomplicated menu with Head Chef Roger Pizey – having worked with Marco Pierre White for more than 30 years – bringing his personal touch and inspirational flair to the menu that celebrates the best of British cuisine. Dishes include a range of 35-day-aged steaks and signature sharing platters, including the 28oz Porterhouse and the 35oz Tomahawk using award-winning beef from British Butcher Donald Russell along with traditional fish and chips and grilled Dorset lemon sole.

Interiors at Marco Grill have been softened slightly to reflect the menu offering, yet signature design pieces – including the glittering Swarovski crystal-studded pillar – remain at the heart of the restaurant.

Simon Hunter, Head of Venue and Brand at Chelsea Football Club, comments: “We are really excited about our new venture at Marco Grill.  We have listened to our diners and stripped back our menus to offer fantastic steaks, grills and sides without the expected price tag associated with such quality dining from a celebrity chef. Our chef has hand-selected the finest locally sourced ingredients to bring the best steaks in London to visitors and residents of the capital and in particular our local diners of Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea. We look forward to welcoming them all to Marco Grill.”

Marco Grill is open Tuesday – Saturday from 6.30pm and is also available exclusively for parties, weddings and corporate events for up to 100 guests.
