Seafood in the City

200views

Last minute re-scheduling sometimes can be easy if you live in London. This is due to the fact that we have a plethora of restaurants, bars and the choice is pretty much endless. However, it is sometimes great to find a gem in the midst of all the choices and that is exactly what happened when i found out about Gow’s located in Old Broad Street. Apparently, Gow’s Fish and Oyster Bar restaurant has  been a favourite city haunt for over 125 years, known for its silver service, excellent seafood and an extensive food-friendly wine list. So, whilst i  was sat pondering why this was the first time i had heard of Gow’s. A call came through asking me to come and try it out… talk about ‘wishful thinking’ . I got into the waiting  Addison Lee car and within moments we had beaten the busy London traffic and arrived at Gow’s. We were welcomed into the venue and  given the run down of the 125 year old  restaurant described as a bit of an institution amongst many in the city. Gow’s is now under new management; The  well known successful Balls Brothers together with  Head Chef David Jordan who joined in 2004 keen on taking Gow’s  to a whole new level. Today, under the new Head Chef, Robert Wilson  the legacy of Gow’s continues to make waves in the city.

I opted for the Sea Bass fillet, you can never go wrong with a well marinated seabass . My Seabass came with slow roasted tomato ,olives and potatoes on the side.My verdict???  A delicious start to a Wednesday night…. compliments to the Chef !

I am more adventurous on a Friday so i  opted out of selecting Oysters as my starter this time around but from what i hear the Colchester Oysters with red wine and beetroot shallot vinegar is a firm favourite amongst regulars or if you are gearing up to Christmas. The perfect starter to kick things off at Gow’s is the new Deluxe dinner package which includes; Champagne & Canapes reception, followed by a lovely three course dinner and accompanied by wine chosen to complement your meal.
