Seeing the Sights of Cyprus

856views

Whilst UK temperatures are plummeting, the island of Cyprus remains a sunny clime, from April through to November each year. With this in mind, and with flights just 4.5 hours from London, it is the perfect island escape for an early spring break, for those who want to get away from it all. In fact, almost one million Brits chose Cyprus for their summer holiday last year!

Luxury villa firm Akamas Villas has a portfolio of 40 luxury properties, in the remarkably unspoilt Akamas region of North West Cyprus. Home to calm beaches, turtles and a protected peninsula, the area is a natural paradise. When booking a villa here, you get to vacation in the midst of it all. I had the pleasure of visiting earlier this year, and got a true taste of the island…

Where to stay?

Akamas Villas has over 40 luxury villas in their 2014 portfolio. Prices start from just £75 per person, per week. This is to rent Argaka Beach Bungalow, however we stayed in the stunning Villa Charno — a beautiful five bedroom property, set in very spacious landscaped grounds. The villa is situated on the outskirts of the coastal village of Ayia Marina, a 30 minute drive from Paphos. Charno has magnificent sea views, open plan living areas, luxury en-suite facilities in all bedrooms and a glorious pool with outdoor Jacuzzi. Along with the usual meet and greet, founder Martin Maynard can even organise maids, cooks and masseurs – all to make sure you holiday like a king. The villa sleeps up to 10, and costs from just £175 per person, per week in 2014.

Where to eat?

There are plenty of great options for traditional Cypriot fare in this area, such as Moustakallis Tavern in Polis, or Molos on Latchi harbour. Faros in Latchi also offers a great grilled fish – and well-known restaurant host Asen will always be sure to bring a smile to guest’s faces, with his warmth and wit.

What to do?

We explored by jeep, with Akamas Jeep Safaris, who drove us across the Akamas Peninsula — visiting sites, such as Lara Bay, where Loggerhead Turtles annually lay their eggs. We also had an amazing boat trip with Crystal Marine, who skipper cruises for guests to see the Akamas Peninsula by sea. A must do. Hire the beautiful yacht Aditi for a half day with a hostess. See Yacht Charters Cyprus.

And if you really want to spoil yourself on your break(and why not?), Akamas Health Farm and Ayii Anargyri Natural Spa both offer unique treatments and a personal experience suite.
