London schools reach the final of the UK’s biggest school Cricket League
After some exhilarating cricket and fiercely competitive matches, eight London schools have qualified for the prestigious British Land Kids Cricket Grand Final.
The semi-final matches of the League were played over the past couple of months, where sixteen schools – each champion of their respective borough – battled it out for a coveted place in the Grand Final. The eight triumphant teams will now make their way to Lord’s on 20th March to compete for the winner’s trophy.
Elmhurst School – NewhamThe British Land Kids Cricket League, now in its eighth year, is the largest children’s cricket league in the UK, with over 2,500 girls and boys from 265 state primary schools across 17 London boroughs taking part. The eight schools to qualify for the Grand Final are:
- Woodside Primary Academy – Waltham Forest
- North Primary School – Ealing
- St Michael’s School – Haringey
- Belleville School – Wandsworth
- Myatt Garden School – Lewisham
- Sir John Lillie School – Hammersmith & Fulham
- Grasmere School – Hackney
John Sullivan, General Manager, Capital Kids Cricket, said: “Once again the League has showcased some superb cricketing talent. Many teams were very evenly matched, playing a close game right up to the nail-biting finish, which will deliver some excellent matches at Lord’s. The standard of cricket has been exceptional and I am really looking forward to the Grand Final.”

The MCC Indoor School at Lord’s will host the 2014 British Land Kids Cricket League Grand Final on the 20th March.
