11 Interesting things found while walking around Chelsea (#OnlyInChelsea)

This might be one of the only pigs in the world that does not smell bad, unfortunately, this is also not a real pig (just in case the green leaves that it’s made out of didn’t give that away), you could still cut it up and cook it, but I doubt it will taste great.

Peculiar is not a word that pops into your mind when someone mentions Chelsea, but after a trip around King’s Road, South Kensington and Knightsbridge, you’d be surprised at some of the things that can be found.

King’s Road

This long high street that connects to Sloane Square and leads to the Saatchi Gallery has quite a couple of interesting things around that can grab your attention as you walk by them. Here are five of those interesting things:

I'm not in any position to criticise the names of places, but the name of this shop just invites people to make a “Came rich, left broke” joke. — The name of this shop just pushes me to make a joke along the lines of “Came rich, left happier!”

I have to agree with whoever placed this sticker here, on my scale from one to gnarly, maps have a very high score.

Technology has advanced so far that phone-booths now come with ATMs, now we can take out money while talking to friends and family! (Was that too sarcastic? I feel like that was too sarcastic…interesting use of a phone-booth nevertheless.)

A conveyor belt, for when you feel too lazy to carry things down the stairs.

How to make your window slightly creepy in three easy steps. Step 1: acquire semi-realistic baby doll. Step 2: place said baby doll on window sill, preferably in plain sight. Step 3: wait for passers-by to react. Fun for the whole family!

South Kensington

South Kensington, in close proximity to Sloane Square, also has some weird and interesting gems hidden in the streets, here are four of them:

Someone obviously had to choose between the door and flowers, they seem to have chosen both. This is almost as practical as using potatoes for- oh…I already made that joke… Moving on! — Usually, people protect their house using an array of locks and gates. Some people in Chelsea, however, create forts out of flowers to protect their precious houses.

I wonder how many people have hurt themselves while walking into the window of this shop before the sign was there, I wonder if there is CCTV available for whenever that happened, it makes for good viral videos. — The fact that a the sign on this window exists suggests that many people might have walked into the window without noticing it. Which is just a funny thing to think about.

The young Picasso wannabe that was on King’s Road obviously seems to have travelled to South Kensington, trying a new medium and changing from drawing faces to drawing sea birds. — This is quite a cute doodle on the doors of a building being renovated. It’s cute and inoffensive, unlike graffiti/drawings found in other areas of London.

This piece by Marina Kurikhina (called ‘The Wall’) is a wall around a parking lot that has range of paradoxical phrases (like the one seen in the picture) pasted over it. It gives you something to think about and enjoy after parking your car, unless you don’t enjoy paradoxes and or reading, then you can just ignore them.

Knightsbridge

The extravagant area around Knightsbridge, full of large buildings and hotels, has it’s own fair share of interesting and peculiar things and here are two of my favourite:

The upside-down ice cream cone, this season’s most popular hairstyle according to these mannequins.
