Pukka, Britain’s favourite organic herbal tea brand, is celebrating ten years of tea making!

Inspired by the idea of connection people with the power of plants, Tim Westwell (creative entrepreneur) and Sebastian Pole (herbalist and Ayurvedic practitioner) created Pukka with a trio of organic herbal teas in 2002. A decade later, Pukka has a range of 25 award-winning teas, a skincare collection and food supplements sold in 40 countries across the world!

In celebration of reaching this significant milestone and to raise awareness of the conservation work they intrinsically do as part of their business, Pukka is working in partnership the world’s leading conservation body WW>

The partnership aims to raise over £50,000 through a campaign to support conservation projects across the world and begins in June 2012 with the launch of a brand new specially blended tea, Peppermint & Licorice. Pukka will donate 20p to WWF-UK with each sale of this delicious blend of organic peppermint and FairWild licorice tea. (WWF helped in the creation of the FairWild Standard for sustainable use of wild collected plant ingredients).

This exclusive tea is just one of the ways Pukka is saying thank you to nature. Taking their tenth birthday as an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to creating a beautiful world in everything they do, Pukka is working on a number of projects in the UK and across the world to help people enjoy a happier, healthier relationship with the natural world. You can find out more about their ‘Beautiful World’ campaign, environmental projects and how you can get involved at www.pukkaherbs.com/beautifulworld.

Commenting on the partnership, Rachel Bloodworth from WWF-UK said: ‘We are delighted to be working with Pukka Herbs in their tenth birthday year – their dedication to supporting the natural environment and creating a beautiful world aligns with our goals. Over the past 50 years, WWF has achieved countless successes from preserving some of the world’s most iconic species such as mountain gorillas and giant pandas, to helping the development of international agreements for the protection of the planet. The continued support of people and companies like Pukka is essential to our work to create a future where people and nature thrive.’

Sebastian Pole, co-founder and herbal director of Pukka Herbs, says: ‘When we started Pukka in 2002, we wanted to create a totally organic business that inspired people to live healthier, more sustainable lives. It seems only natural that as we celebrate ten years of bringing the power of plants into people’s lives, we also take the time to remember and celebrate the amazing planet that lets us do this.

Each year, we plant over 20 million plants and trees and invest in renewable energy, sustainable projects and reforestation programmes. We work with our growers, customers and consumers on a one to one basis to ensure that everyone profits from being involved with Pukka: sensually, healthily, ecologically and socially. Most importantly, we strive to leave nature in an ever richer, more glorious state than how we found her.

Partnering with WWF to promote our shared conservation values seemed the perfect next step. Our new Peppermint and Licorice tea is a naturally caffeine free, delicious blend of refreshing peppermint to support digestion, and naturally sweet, soothing FairWild licorice to calm and nourish. I hope you can feel good knowing that as well as taking care of yourself, you’re doing your own little bit to create a beautiful world too.’

Pukka Herbs also sells a wide range of herbal remedies, bio nutrients, healthy oils and food supplements as well as 25 varieties of tea, all inspired by the ancient Indian philosophy of Ayurveda – ‘the art of living wisely’. A selection of the teas are stocked at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and other leading retailers and independent health stores, while the complete range is available online at www.pukahersbs.com.
